Let's Talk about Kansas Restaurants and Cannoli

Chatting with people from New York or Florida, there is a common idea that Kansas knows nothing when it comes to Italian restaurants. Especially when it comes to Cannoli. Although I had heard of the traditional dessert known as Cannoli, I did not have the opportunity to taste one until I lived in the state of Washington. The New York baker we purchased cannollis from on a weekly basis, referred to me as the "Cannoli Girl" when he answered the phone. He even threatened to put me in his contact list as such. After I moved back to Wichita, Ks., I started to search the local state for restaurants. I mean, I had to know what to tell people when I visited Italy the following year.
Savute's Italian Ristorante does not seem to create Cannolis for their menu, but I have had the great pleasure of enjoying two birthday parties there and will continue to enjoy the wonderful food and the friendly staff they have to offer. There is nothing like laying in bed and being handed a cannoli and coffee for breakfast in bed. Talk about taking a girl to the moon and back.
Whether or not the following list is or isn't authentic Italian, it is what we Kansans have access to taste, enjoy and fight over. When I visit Italians restaurants in Kansas, I have found myself scrutinizing the menu's for the authentic language. With my college semester of Italian, I am thankful I know the words to look for when it comes to my allergies.

Now that we talked about Kansas Restaurants, we need to discuss the Cannoli in Wichita, KS, there are several friendly, homey and wonderful environments you will find that hits my fancy.
I highly recommend Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza when it comes to delicious cibo in a fast paced environment.
Napoli Italian Eatery has the most amazing food. The staff are friendly and the environment soothes the soul when it comes to needing a safe space with Italian soul. Their cannoli is to live for along with a nice glass of red wine.
Now, let's talk about the amazing, exquisite, sophisticated, charming, Bella Vita Bistro.
